What is IOSH?
IOSH stands for the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. It is the world’s only Chartered body for health and safety professionals and has over 45,000 members worldwide, spanning over 100 countries. As an independent and not-for-profit organisation, IOSH aims to regulate and steer the health and safety profession partly through its formal accreditation process of approved training courses.

Training Course Outline:
The IOSH approved course focuses on the key components of the risks posed by substances hazardous to health and how a business can ensure that it adequately controls those substances to ensure a safe working environment.
The course covers, and underlines, the challenges that chemicals and other potentially hazardous substances present to risk assessors, especially when the harm they cause is not always obvious. The course discusses the different avenues in which employees can find the information out that they need to assess these risks properly and also how to appropriately interpret the information in order to reduce significant risks.
Above all, delegates will learn when the situation requires a specialist to assist with the process of identification, evaluation and control of substances that may be hazardous to health.
This two-day training course consisting of theoretical discussion and practical exercises, explores the methods available to interpret the degree of risk arising from an organisation’s use of substances. Models for managing risk from substances within the hierarchy of control are considered, including the selection, use and management of Local Exhaust Ventilation and Respiratory Protective Equipment.
